Is it tattoo on Brad Pitt’s back?

Brad Pitt has a new marking on his back. Is it a tattoo? Perhaps one of his kids drew on him while he’s vegging out? I am someone who doesn’t know anything about tattoos. If I were ever to get one - it would be for the looks. Apparently people like Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, David Beckham who have enough tattoos on their bodies get tattoos for a reason perhaps something that really signifies something, not sure? What do you think? Is it a tattoo? If so, what does it signify?
