Teen pop star, Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers has been diagnoised with diabetes since 2005 at the age of 13. What really triggered his family to get him tested were his violent mood swings..

Nick’s mum Denise explains, “Nick was an especially wonderful child. So when he started acting with a bad attitude, I knew something was wrong.”
Besides, violent mood swings, Nick also revealed another side effect of his illness – food cravings.
He tells WENN, “With diabetes you’ll get these weird cravings out of nowhere. While on tour, I started craving Pizza Hut. That was it, that was all I needed. I’m usually pretty flexible when it comes to food choice, but this time I was really stubborn that I had to have pizza hut and I made them pull the tour bus over.”
Nick launches Type 1 Diabetes Awareness Campaign, he hopes a three-year partnership he’s created with Bayer HealthCare will serve as an inspiration to others living with this disease.
Jonas said his whirlwind touring schedule sometimes makes it difficult to manage his condition.
“It is hard, but I’ve always had it in my heart to be an inspiration and a positive voice of encouragement,” he said. “So the first time I heard someone say ‘thanks for sharing,’ I thought if I can use this as an opportunity to inspire people, then it’s all worth it.”
