Biography: Selena Gomez born on July 22, 1992 in New York City raised in Grand Prairie, Texas; height: 5 feet 5 (165 cm); Zodiac Sign: Cancer. Selena, the teen pop idol who plays Alex Russo on the Disney Channel Original Series, Wizards of Waverly Place; the gorgeous starlet is also a singer.
Selena is the only child and she is of Mexican and Italian heritage. Her first role was on Barney & Friends as Gianna. Gomez was discovered by Disney in a nation wide Disney talent search when she was 10 years old.
Gomez has been part of a controversy in 2008 surrounding an alleged feud between Miley Cyrus and Gomez. Reports included Hollywood rumors that Cyrus and Gomez were arguing over fellow Disney star Nick Jonas or that Gomez and Lovato might replace Cyrus after Cyrus’Vanity Fair photo shoot.
