Last night, Tom Cruise’s little Stepford wife, Kate Holmes, was allowed outside the compound for a few precious hours. Her play All My Sons began previews in New York City and let’s just say the focus wasn’t on her, uh, acting abilities

Lining the outside entrance, protesters wearing V is for Vendetta masks, held “Free Katie”and “Scientology is a cult!” signs.

More photos after the craaaazy…

“Run, Katie, Run!” Said one of the signs.

Spies also noted the affable Tom Cruise made his presence known—at one point standing up and taking a bow for the audience as they applauded his entrance—and cheering as though he was at a “soccer game” when the performance ended.

Looks like John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest, and Patrick Wilson were sufficiently upstaged.

As far as Katie’s performance? “She didn’t embarrass herself.”

Too bad the same can’t be said for the Napolean in the front row.
