Colin Farrell opens up to Ellen DeGeneres on Monday about his estranged first love—drugs and alcohol. The actor has been clean and sober since his 2005 stint in rehab and has since made being dry a “way of life.”

We all remember the bumbling, drunky Colin only a few short years back. He was the hot, Irish actor that, no doubt, served as a walking travel advertisement for his homeland—come to Ireland, hang out in pubs, and party with a bunch of sex-obsessed rogues like me. Or maybe that’s just what I took away from it…

Regardless, I forgot how much he actually imbibed, swallowed and snorted at his prime. Colin Farrell and Amy Winehouse are kindred spirits. After ending up on a shrink’s couch in 2003:

He [the shrink] told me to write down how much I did in a week: 20 E’s, 4 grams of coke, six of speed, half an ounce of hash, three bottles of Jack Daniel’s, 12 bottles of red wine, 60 pints.”
