John McCain Biography
Biography: John McCain: birth name: John Sidney McCain III; born August 29, 1936 at Coco Solo Naval Air Station in the Panama Canal Zone, Panama. At that time, Panama was under US control so that gives him the qualification of being born on US soil to become the President of the United States.

McCain graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1958. He became a naval aviator, flying ground-attack aircraft. During the Vietnam War, McCain almost lost his life. In October 1967 while on a bombing mission over Hanoi, He was shot down, badly injured and captured by the North Vietnamese during a bombing mission over Hanoi in October 1967. He was a prisoner of war until 1973.
McCain retired from the Navy as a captain in 1981, moved to Arizona, and entered politics. McCain at times has had a media reputation as a “maverick” for disagreeing with his party on several key issues. It’s not the first time McCain has tried to run for the presidential election. In fact he lost his bid for the Republican nomination in the 2000 presidential election to George W. Bush.
McCain has been married twice, his first marriage was in July 1965 to Carol Shepp, a model originally from Philadelphia. John and Carol had a daughter named Sidney and he also adopted her two young children Douglas and Andrew.
McCain returned home as a returned POW (Prisoner of War) and a War hero in March 1973. He was a prisoner of war in North Vietnam for five and a half years. He was tortured severely as a POW and underwent substantial medical treatments and therapies upon his return.
In 1976 he became commanding officer of a training squadron stationed in Florida. During this period in Florida, McCain had extramarital affairs and the McCains’ marriage began to deteriorate for which he later would accept blame.
In April 1979 McCain met Cindy Lou Hensley, a teacher from Phoenix, Arizona. They started dating. McCain and his wife, Carol divorced in 1980 and that same year, McCain and Hensley got married.
McCain was formally nominated at the 2008 Republican National Convention in September 2008 together with his chosen running mate from Alaska, Governor Sarah Palin.
John McCain would be the oldest president ever to be elected if he were to be elected as the president. The average age is 55 years old at the time a president assumes office. The youngest president to be elected to office was John F. Kennedy. The youngest to assume office was Theodore Roosevelt after William McKinley’s assassination. The oldest president to assume office was Ronald Reagan. John McCain would surpass this record if he were elected president in 2008. If elected, Barack Obama would be fifth youngest elected president, just slightly older than the most recent Democratic president, Bill Clinton. – WIKI
