Zac Efron as Troy Bolton in the Disney blockbuster, High School Musical franchise is back starring High School Musical 3 which hits theaters nationwide today. Will Efron be starring in HSM 4? At the age of 21, Efron’s got the world under his thumb. Is he going to come back for another High School Musical installment if it happens to be another one? What do you think? A Rolling Stone cover story called him “The new American heartthrob.” But it’s not just an American thing. As Efron toured the world to promote the latest “HSM,” the Daily Mail of London described him as “the world’s biggest teen idol.”
Out in Sweden, all the Swedish girls are crazy about him just like the rest of the world. Trust me, good looking guys in Sweden are a dime a dozen – (only until they hit their mid-thirties then it’s all downhill, hmm must be the booze that the Europeans consume, no idea) but Zac, to the Swedes is the best. The little girls love him; the teenagers do and even the grown-ups. He grows on you.
The thing is Zac is wholesome, he’s scandal-free and that’s really a rare commodity in Hollywood. High School Musical will never be the same without the captain, Troy Bolton, would it?
Is Zac going to graduate or he’s coming back for another installment if it happens? Sorry to disappoint all you HSM fans out there! Zac Efron isn’t coming back!
But like Troy Bolton, Efron is ready to graduate. So don’t expect him in the upcoming “High School Musical 4.” “I think it’s important to grow up,” he [Zac Efron] said. “Everybody’s got to do it eventually, and now’s my time.”
I say never say never – of course, Efron has many other offers including his new deal to star alongside Johnny Depp in the fourth installment of another Disney blockbuster: Pirates of the Caribbean. Apparently, Zac is paid $12 million for his role (£6 million) in Pirates of the Caribbean 4.
Efron also stars in the upcoming 17 Again alongside Friends star, Matthew Perry. This movie features Zac as a dissatisfied man who gets a chance to be a teen again. In the movie Efron plays the role of a 37-year old man.
I do agree with Zac, you need to grow and quit while you are on top of the world and diversify – that’s what makes a wonderful actor, you can’t just be doing teen stuff until it dries up. Smart thinking and we wish there are more Zac Efrons in La La Land!
