Alex Rodriguez recently told reporters he and Madonna are just friends. HA! In fact, Alex says many of the things written about he and Madonna are laughable, and it would take weeks out of his life to refute all the false rumors. So he chooses to do nothing. Hm. Sounds like clever, mangled intellectualizing to us. Denial isn’t only a river in a Egypt, Alex

more juice after the jump…

Below are a few gems from his People interview:

So how’s the Madonna globe-trotting going?

“I can tell you this,” Rodriguez says, “I have never been on a plane with her.”

How is concert-going and apartment hunting?

“I’ve been to two [of her] concerts, yet I’ve read that I went to 20. I’ve also read that we were buying an apartment together. That is absolutely ridiculous and not true.”

What about the little vacation to Mexico City you two took together?

While Rodriguez and Madonna were both in Mexico City last weekend, Rodriguez says his time was focused on running a baseball clinic for kids. ”When you’re among 200 kids and teaching the game of baseball it gives you an amazing feeling,” he says, “just that you may inspire kids to reach their goals, whether it’s baseball or whatever their goals might be.”

Ok, Ok. One last chance—are you sure there’s nothing going on with Madonna?

“I have a lot of respect for her,” he says. “She’s very committed to making the world a better place. She’s had an amazing career, and we’re friends. That’s it.”

Sigh. I guess we’re just going to have to keep our fingers shut next time we see you getting off a plane together. It’s gonna be tough, but we’ll try.
