Mary-Kate Olsen was overheard saying the good thing about a recession are great clothing sales. Mary-Kate was riding in an elevator in Barney’s and turned to the person next to her to express joy in a few recent purchases.

Page Six is reporting her saying:

It’s really sad - the recession is everywhere. But at least they are having good sales,” said Olsen, who pointed to her hat. “That’s where I got this! The recession!”

The thing that’s eyebrow raising about this isn’t the fact MK is overjoyed at sales (aren’t we all), but that she would need a sale to buy a hat, for Godsakes! Aren’t she and her Ashley worth $300 million or something insane like that? 

The Page Six snitch also watched as Mary-Kate eyed a $410 menorah, pillows and a throw for a bed. Alas, MK showed discipline and didn’t purchase anything. Ah, celebs they’re just like us.
