PETA vs Nickelodeon Kids Shows
PETA is taking a stand against a Nickelodeon kids show. They posted on their website about a show called Merry Christmas Drake & Josh, that used a chimpanzee. And you don’t ever want PETA mad at you….so what will the kids cartoon giant say?
More pictures after the protest…
PETA posted a long letter urging supporters to let Nickelodeon know they weren’t pleased. The TV show in question stars Drake Bell and Josh Peck, and Miranda Cosgrove – all very big tween names. This is what they say on their website:
We recently learned that Nickelodeon’s new holiday film, Merry Christmas, Drake & Josh, features a live chimpanzee. With so many realistic alternatives available—such as CGI, animatronics, costumes, and blue screen—there is no excuse for Nickelodeon to use live great apes in its programs.
Not only was the chimpanzee in the film portrayed in a demeaning way and even referred to as a monkey, the use of great apes in the entertainment industry is also inherently cruel. Training great apes to perform almost always includes physical abuse to ensure that the animals know “who’s boss” and do as the trainer demands. In fact, the wide-toothed chimpanzee “grin” so often seen in movies and on TV is actually a grimace of fear or a carefully choreographed response to a command.
Nickelodeon hasn’t responded of yet, but I guess they will profusely apologize and kiss somebody’s butt to win PETA back over.

I am not commenting on the above show, but on one I saw a portion of on April 24 between 12:30 and 2:30. I don’t even know the name of it – but it showed where a dad was hav ing an affair and the son found out about it. He was told not to tell his mother. I was shocked to say the least, my great grandchildren will not be watching Nick at this time frame anymore. No wonder our morals are in such a bad way when thes e type of programs are being shown to age 5 nd 6 and above.
