Alex Rodriguez admitted to using steroids from the years 2001-2004. At the time Alex was playing for the Texas Rangers and used the performance enhancing drugs. He says baseball was very different a few years back, and that he was young and stupid and fully regrets the decision. Ah, well. At least he admitted it, right?

A-Rod told ESPN.com:

When I arrived in Texas in 2001, I felt an enormous amount of pressure, I felt like I had all the weight of the world on top of me and I needed to perform, and perform at a high level every day…Back then, [baseball] was a different culture. It was very loose. I was young, I was stupid, I was naïve. And I wanted to prove to everyone that I was worth being one of the greatest players of all time. I did take a banned substance. And for that, I am very sorry and deeply regretful.”

Man, it just hasn’t been A-Rod’s month. First he gets dumped by Madonna for someone younger and hotter, and now he has to publicly admit he used to take steroid. Things can only get better from here, A-Rod!
