Mickey Rourke has had many plastic surgeries and who could have thought Rourke was once celebrated as a Hollywood sex symbol? Mickey, the 56-year old comeback star of “The Wrestler” said of his chequered past “I have nothing but regrets”. Regrets? ( Below: photo of Mickey when he was a sex symbol then starring in 9 1/2 weeks)

Perhaps leaving Hollywood to become a full-time boxer in the early 90s. Perhaps turning down a role in Pulp Fiction in 1994. Another may well be is his decision to turn to a plastic surgeon in an effort to unscramble his face after years of being a boxer.
As reports by Welt.de, Rourke said he has had five operations to fix the damage done to his face during his career as a boxer, and he thinks he may have gone to the “wrong guy” for plastic surgery.
The ‘Wrestler actor – who started boxing professionally in 1991 after his Hollywood career collapsed – claims most of the facial cosmetic procedures he underwent were to correct injuries sustained from the sport.
He [Rourke] said: “Most of it was to mend the mess of my face because of the boxing, but I went to the wrong guy to put my face back together.”
Mickey eventually gave up boxing after he was advised to stop due to neurological problems. He was castigated from Hollywood due to his erratic behaviour, has also revealed his big screen comeback could have come earlier. He turned down a role in ‘Pulp Fiction’ because he was convinced the work would come thick and fast again as it did in his 80s heyday.
Sad indeed but at least Rourke’s managed to make a big comeback so perhaps he would never be the Romeo but he could certainly play the bad guy or a wrestler in fact. Anyone watched The Wrestler? How about 9 1/2 weeks?
