Jimmy Fallon’s first Late Night show aired last night and he actually got good ratings. Jimmy had Robert De Niro, Justin Timberlake and musical guest Van Morrison for his kick-off last night after David Letterman. Jimmy, for one, has the coolest house band—The Roots—and it was super-smart of him to book his friend Justin, too.

Jimmy beat out his competition, Jimmy Kimmel by 17% and Craig Ferguson by 35%. While Robert DeNiro was a bit stiff, Justin Timberlake, who has worked with Jimmy on Saturday Night Live, really livened up the set by doing spot on impersonations of John Mayer and Michael MacDonald.

However, his reviews were mixed. Critics said his jokes were stale and his delivery overly nervous. We’ll see if he makes it.
