Madonna has filed adoption papers for her second Malawian child. News has circulated all week that Madonna expressed an interest in adopting a second child to be a Malawian brother or sister for her son David Banda. Today a rep from the Malawia welfare department confirmed that, indeed, Madonna has made her desire to adopt again official.

Although, according to UsWeekly, her famous rep Liz Rosenberg has yet to comment on the status of Madonna‘s second adoption, it’s pretty safe to assume the pop star might be adding to her brood. In an interesting twist of fate, Madonna‘s dalliances with Alex Rodriguez and Jesus Luz may actually throw a monkey wrench in her plans to adopt baby girl, Mercy. A senior official from Malawi’s Ministry of Women and Child Welfare Development was quoted earlier this week as saying:
“Our official policy is that we do not encourage our children to be sent into broken homes…her relationships may negatively affect the adoption of Mercy.”
