Both Rihanna and Chris Brown told Tyra Banks that they came from a violent home. Oprah Winfrey and Tyra Banks have both spoken out about some of the universal issues surrounding abuse, and both talk show hosts have urged Rihanna to move on, but also understand that when both parties come from an environment of abuse that it may be difficult to do so.

According to Tyra Banks via UsWeekly Chris Brown admitted to living in a house of abuse, while:

“Rihanna told me that her parents used to argue so intensely and she used to get these headaches, almost migraines … and it was almost living hell for her,” Banks said. “The moment her parents separated, the headaches went away.”

Oprah then added:

“When you grew up in an environment where there is abuse, it’s more acceptable to you. If you go back with a man who hits you it’s because you don’t think you’re worthy of being with a man who won’t.”
