Angelina Jolie has just signed on to play a doctor for her latest movie role. Angelina will play Dr. Kay Scarpetta who is a character in a Patricia Cornwell novel. While no screenwriter or director have been brought on board for the film, those in talks have high hopes for the film; even saying it could turn into a series.

According to Variety.com:

“There are 16 Scarpetta novels, meaning a franchise is hoped for, but this film won’t be tied to a specific Cornwell mystery title. Much the way that Jason Bourne morphed into an action hero in plots not rigidly locked into the Robert Ludlum book series, the opera-loving coroner Scarpetta will be the lead in a suspense thriller in the vein of “The Silence of the Lambs” and “Seven.”

Now, we are by NO MEANS advocates of the barefoot and pregnant Holly Homemaker myth. If Angie wants her career, you go get it girl, but riddles us this: who is taking care of these kids?! We think Angelina needs to cool it on the adoption/pregnancy plans if she wants to make a Bourne-like series.
