Ellen Pompeo is pregnant. The Grey’s Anatomy star and her husband Chris Ivery released the news over the weekend, when she showed off a baby bump.  Ooops, I hope the family already knows, because it’s all over the media now!  What does this mean for Ellen and her character on the show?

Ellen plays Meredith on the show, who has been in and around Dr. McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey) all year…and last year, the year before…so how will her pregnancy affect the show?  Who knows.  But the couple are super excited!  From People Magazine:

“It’s great news,” says Allen. “They’re ecstatic.”

The Grey’s Anatomy star, 39, and Ivery, 41, a music producer, were married by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg in a low-key ceremony in November 2007. The couple met in a grocery store in 2003 and began dating six months later.

Congratulations to the happy couple!  I want to see Meredith pregnant on the show too….how would that be for a curve ball in plotting!  I hope Ellen is a lot less melo-dramatic in real life than her character though.
