Madonna filed an appeal to her failed adoption case. Earlier today, a Malawian judge rejected Madonna‘s desire to adopt 4-year-old Mercy James. Madonna is not one to take bad news lying down and has already chosen to fight the decision. The rejection came as a shock to Madge and her lawyer, Alan Chinula, who said earlier this week that they didn’t see any legislation that could keep Madonna from getting the green light.

However, Madonna is not the most popular person in Malawi right now. The Human Rights Consultative Committee stands by the ruling. Chairman Undule Mwakusungura told Usmagazine.com.
“The judge has sent the right message that we have laws in Malawi that have to be respected. We can’t just have people flying in and out with our children without procedure. Madonna may have the best interests for the girl but pedophiles may take advantage of adopting here if we allow procedures to be bent.”
Sticky situation. We can see both sides of the issue, but Madonna‘s lawyer chalks the ruling all up to Judge Esme Chombo‘s conservative nature, and how she may (deep down) not approve of Madonna‘s risky stage antics and public love affairs.
