Madonna has donated half a million to Italian earthquake victims. Madonna‘s paternal grandparents lived in the Pacentro region of Italy until they emigrated to the United States in 1919. The deadly earthquake has left at least 250 dead and hit a startling 6.3 magnitude. The after shocks have been almost as terrifying, with CNN claiming one hit a 5.6 magnitude tremor.

Madonna, who was recently rejected an adoption request by a Malawi court, says she was happy to help out the survivors. Lord knows she has the cash. The pop star told People.com:
“I am happy to lend a helping hand to the town that my ancestors are from…My heart goes out to the families that have lost loved ones or their homes.”
