Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo are probably going to break-up soon. Nick and Vanessa have hit a rough patch, says friends, and all of Nick’s buddies are urging him to get rid of her if he wants to excell in his career. Hm. Not to be a negative nancy here, but Nick hasn’t had a “career” since he starred in Newlyweds with Jessica Simpson, but we’ll just ignore that for now.

This morning The New York Daily News reported that Nick feels Vanessa is holding him back “careerwise.”

Sure enough, Lachey’s career isn’t as hot as it used to be. His latest single, “Patience,” hasn’t even cracked the pop charts, though a friend close to the singer is quick to note “it’s doing well on the adult contemporary…
He’s also producing a show on MTV called “Taking the Stage,” but even that hasn’t taken off, perhaps because Lachey has stayed behind the camera for much of the season. But what the singer really needs is a mainstream breakthrough — and Lachey’s pals say that in order to launch a comeback, he needs to dump Minnillo.”

Huh? What does Nick Lachey masterminding a comeback have to do with dumping Vanessa Minnillo? Perhaps he can trade-up with a celeb more in the public eye, which may garner him more magazine covers? I’m so confused. Methinks Nick Lachey will be a crappy singer regardless of who he’s sharing public meals with in Los Angeles.
