Nicollete Sheridan called Desperate Housewives boring and is not at all sad she left the series earlier this year. Nicollette’s character Edie was killed off the show, and while at the time it seemed like Nicollette was done with Desperate Housewives, we come to find out she was told she would no longer be a regular on the show.

She told usmagazine.com that creator Marc Cherry just didn’t like the character of Edie Britt:

[Killing off Edie] was a risky decision that could have devastating ramifications,” she warns creator Marc Cherry. But, she adds, “Somebody up there really wanted her dead. I think whoever Edie represented in Marc’s life was somebody he didn’t like. And he had a very difficult time distinguishing between fact and fiction.”

Nicollette also complained that Cherry ignored her, and he replied that Edie had slept with all the men anyway, so it was an economic decision:

“There has been tremendous pressure put on me to cut costs … the network is saying to all the shows, ‘The company is really hurting financially. You must find a way to produce these shows more cheaply,’” Marc says.
