Eminem has finally recovered from a years-long addiction to pain pills. Eminem recounts his tale of almost overdosing in the latest issue of Vibe magazine. The saucy rapper reportedly became addicted to Vicodin, Ambien, and Valium and almost overdosed a few years ago when a friend gave him methadone pills. Methadone pills are prescribed to heroin addicts, and a doctor later told Eminem he swallowed the equivalent of four bags of heroin.

Eminem tells Vibe via People.com:
“The numbers got so high, I don’t even know what I was taking. It never once hit me that drug addiction runs in my family. Now that I understand that I’m an addict, I definitely have compassion for my mother. I get it,” he says. “I’m back. Rap was my drug. It used to get me high and then it stopped getting me high. Then I had to resort to other things to make me feel that … now rap’s getting me high again.”
Eminem‘s album Relapse is out on May 19th.
