Jamie Lee got the wig from a cancer patient who was 11 years old. Jamie Lee knew her for a few years, when she worked fundraisers for the hospital and then for cancer research.  The girl recently died at 15 and Jamie Lee asked the family if she could have the wig.  From E! Online:

The wig belonged to a 15-year-old girl who died of cancer.

“We were at a news conference, and she pulled off this wig and on her head she had written ‘Jamie Lee Curtis Rocks,’” the actress told me about her first meeting with the girl when she was 11. “That night I borrowed her wig and went to this event, where we raised millions of dollars for Children’s Hospital Pittsburgh. After she died, I asked her mother if I could have her wig to carry her message.”

I think Jamie Lee should be an inspiration to more stars. Do something worthy and not something press worthy all the time. Use your celebrity to help people who truly deserve it.
