Dawson is a New York City native. She’s of is of Puerto Rican, Afro-Cuban, Irish, and Native American descent. Rosario was discovered sitting on her front porch in New York City and asked if she wanted to be in a movie. That movie was Kids back in 1995 when she was a teenager.
