A nude painting of Madonna and her ex-husband Guy Ritchie has failed sell at an auction in Scotland. The bizarre artwork, by Scottish painter Peter Howson, shows a grotesquely muscular Madonna laying naked on a bed, while a square-jawed Ritchie looks on.

It went under the hammer in Glasgow last Saturday on May 30, 2009 with an estimated sale price of $33,000 (£22,000) but it never made it past the reserve price of $22,000 (£15,000) as reports by Female First
An auction house spokesman says, “The auction was very successful, however, surprisingly Peter Howson’s controversial piece ‘Madonna and Guy’ did not sell on the day. The painting is still for sale and we would be delighted to hear from anyone who is interested in this much talked about piece of Scottish art history”.
