Usher and Tameka Foster split up because he acted like a bachelor and took her for granted. Usher publicly filed for divorce a few days ago and according to People magazine, very few people in the couple’s inner circle were surprised by the turn of events. What looked like an idyllic marriage from the outside was actually troubled, sources say.

Friends of the couple told the magazine:

The source, who tells PEOPLE that there was no third party breaking up the marriage, says that Usher still lived like a bachelor. “He just wasn’t used to calling her if he was going to be out late,” says the source. “He didn’t treat her bad. He just took her for granted…They’ve been going their own way for awhile,” says Tameka’s friend. “They don’t spend a lot of time with each other. When they were together, it was all about the boys.”
