Paula Abdul is hurt and angry and she may not be returning to American Idol for the ninth season. Abdul has not been invited back for the upcoming season on Idol. Abdul’s manager says he has yet to receive a new contract from FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, the companies behind American Idol.

The LA Times blog got some soundbites from Abdul’s manager, David Sonenberg:
“Very sadly, it does not appear that she’s going to be back on ‘Idol,’ ” David Sonenberg, Abdul’s manager, told The Times when contacted about the judge’s contract negotiations. “I find it under these circumstances particularly unusual; I think unnecessarily hurtful,” he said of the contract holdup. “I find it kind of unconscionable and certainly rude and disrespectful that they haven’t stepped up and said what they want to do.”
The result of the stalled negotiations, Paula is unlikely to be back on the show which she’s judged for eight previous seasons.
“Very sadly, it does not appear that she’s going to be back on ‘Idol,’” he said.
This is surprising news as Abdul has been, arguably, the most colorful and irreplaceable character on the show.

This is very shabby treatment , as Paula has been with AI since day one, she deserves better. A good deal of the entertainment value of the show is the chemistry between Paula and Simon Cowell. I find it strange that Simon has not become involved, as he has often stated he would’t do the show without Randy and Paula. American Idol will be boring without Paula, for even with her faults, she is fun, sparky, and entertaining. Save our Paula.
I think the show needs her upbeat personality and professional say so. Kara is good but NOT Paula. I also think the contestants need the harsh words of Simon but also the soft side of Paula.
I agree that Idol will not be the same without Paula! She was the softness to Simon’s brass, the kindness to his rudeness. Their chemistry was something that cannot be simulated; it was natural. I cannot image Idol without the three amigos: Simon, Paula and Randy on the judging panel and Ryan hosting! I thought Kara was very talented and I didn’t mind her on the show, but she was defintiley the “fifth wheel”. There was NOT the chemistry! Bring Paula back already. Pay her what she’s worth – Idol’s magic chemistry; Idol’s family!!!
