The NYPD is not footing the bill for the security of Robert Pattinson. People had been speculating that since Robert was mobbed by a group of girls while shooting, NYC stepped up their efforts at keeping him safe. Not so.

Robert has enough income, he is paying for his own guards, however, they seem to be ineffective, because there are girls everywhere trying to get close to Robert. From Radar Online:
But in these tough economic times, RadarOnline.com is happy to report that the taxpayers of New York City are not on the hook for the Twilight hunk’s security tab.
“The NYPD does not provide security for actors,” a police spokeswoman told RadarOnline.com. The department will, however, continue to respond to traffic and crowd issues, she said.
Robert has been in New York for several weeks now, filming. His bill for security must be getting rather large…but oh yeah, his Twilight paycheck will cover it.
