Christina Aguilera was a victim. Christina reveals in an interview turned made for TV documentary that her father was abusive. Christina is still estranged from her father after briefly trying to reconcile several years ago.

Christina hopes that by coming out and sharing her painful past, she may encourage others to seek help. From Contact Music:
“I witnessed a lot of unpleasant things – a lot of pushing and shoving and fighting and quarrelling. Growing up I did not feel safe. Feeling powerless is the worst feeling in the world. I turned to singing as an outlet. The pain at home is where my love for music came from.”
Luckily Christina’s mother took her and her siblings out of the house, to their grandparent’s home. And the rest is history. The music, however, is still current for us. Way to be a survivor Christina!
