Julia Roberts has angered scores of Hindus while shooting Eat, Pray, Love in India. For the four of you who haven’t read Elizabeth Gilbert‘s memoir, it’s the true story of her travels through Italy, Indonesia and India. Julia was poached for the leading role in the movie version, which is now taping in India.

more Julia after the hop…
Even though Julia has worn traditional Indian clothing, locals are angry they are filming during the holy season.
“Shakuntala Devi, who was turned away at the front gate, said: “It’s the holiest time of year and we must not be stopped from visiting our own temple.” (via The Mirror)
Aside from that, Julia drives around in bulletproof cars, is guarded by 350 security staff , 100 bouncers and 40 gunmen.
Wow. That’s quite an entourage. But why would the production company clog a temple during the holiest time of the year? That doesn’t make one bit of sense.
