Balloon Boy’s mother admits the entire event was a hoax. Wonderful. Can we erase these people from the files of our brains? Thanks. Basically, oh, a week and half, two weeks ago (seems like an eternity) the media-starved Heene family decided to throw morality down the drain pretend their 6-year-old son was trapped in a helium balloon drifting away, and call 911.

Of course there was no such boy in said balloon, and the media spiraled down an investigation to find out if he was dead. Well Mayumi Heene told police on October 17th that it was all a hoax. The Grade-A father who really, really, really wanted to be the next Jon Gosselin shrugged off her admission saying Mayumi (who was born in Japan) doesn’t speak English that well. Despite the document containing Mayumi’s confession, Richard Heene is not ready to give in. His lawyer, David Lane, told the Denver Post that Mayumi’s confession is meaningless. “[Mayumi's] English is not that great, first of all,” Lane said.
