Charlize Theron made Nelson Mandela mad. Charlize is a native South African and she decided to use her heritage to benefit charity by having an auction. In this auction, she said the winner would have a meet and greet with Nelson Mandela. Except she forgot to inform him. oops.

Charlize probably didn’t organize the event herself, but still. Why didn’t someone think to  contact the man in question first? From the Daily Mail:

a spokesman for the frail former freedom fighter said the meeting might not be possible because Theron had not sought permission from Mr Mandela before arranging the auction.

Achmat Dangor, chief executive of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, said: ‘There is a very rigorous process that is followed to secure a meeting with Mr Mandela, and as yet, we have not have had any such request from Charlize Theron.’

Mr Mandela, who turned 91 in July, has now fully retired from public life and only grants personal audiences to a tiny proportion of those who request them.

So someone wasn’t quite thinking clearly when this plan went in to action. An old man who has retired was the prize, yet not informed. Duh. I wonder what Charlize will do to make it up?
