ADRIEN BRODY Bio
Adrien Brody was born in Woodhaven, Queens, New York. As a child, he performed magic shows at children’s birthday parties as “The Amazing Adrien”. Brody attended New York’s Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts (famous as the inspiration for television’s Fame).
His parents enrolled him in acting classes, to keep him out of trouble mainly. Brody attended New York’s Queens College from 1991 to 1993, majoring in Performance Art. However, he returned to acting before graduating.
In 1992,(not your typical Hollywood news) Brody was seriously hurt in a motorcycle accident in which he flew over a car and crashed head-first into a crosswalk. He spent months recuperating. He has broken his nose three times doing stunts. His nose was broken once again during the filming of Summer of Sam.
He received worldwide fame when he was cast as the lead in Roman Polanski’s The Pianist (2002). To prepare for the role, Brody withdrew for months, giving up his car and apartment, was left by his girlfriend, stirring up much Hollywood gossip. He mastered Chopin on the piano, and lost 29 lbs (13 kg) for the role. This role earned Brody an Academy Award for Best Actor. At 29, he was the youngest actor to earn the award. Today, after a childhood introduction to acting merely to keep him out of trouble, Adrien Brody’s parents are beaming with pride.
