Following the announcement that Prejean would initially keep her crown, Shana Moakler, resigned as co-director for the pageant on May 13, 2009, stating “I cannot with a clear conscience move forward supporting and promoting the Miss Universe Organization when I no longer believe in it, or the contracts I signed committing myself as a youth.”
As of this afternoon, Donald Trump officially declared that Carrie Prejean was officially “fired” and stripped of her crown as Miss California. Donald released a statement explaining his actions; ìI told Carrie she needed to get back to work and honor her contract with the Miss California USA Organization and I gave her the opportunity to do so. Unfortunately it just doesnÃt look like it is going to happen and I offered Keith [Lewis] my full support in making this decision. Carrie is a beautiful young woman and I wish her well as she pursues her other interests.î He went on to admit that Miss Prejean had pulled the wool over his eyes so to speak when it came to her behavior toward those who work for the pageant in saying, “To me she was the sweetest thing. Everyone else ó she treated like shit.”
