Conan O’Brien could leave NBC was early as next week. After being told that his Late Show was to be pushed back to a later slot in order to make up for lost ratings, O’Brien reacted with a kind of spiteful rage that clearly told the network that he wasn’t going to be pushed around.

Last week, O’Brien wrote a heartfelt letter to his viewers assuring everyone that he truly wanted to stay at the network at his allotted 11:35 spot. However, he also noted that if the network was unwilling to compromise then neither was he. What a messy mess, indeed.
Eonline.com reported today that O’Brien‘s last show could be next Friday. His people are hard at work in negotiating some sort of payout so that Leno can reclaim his 11:35 slot and O’Brien can go elsewhere.
