George Clooney isn’t set to marry current girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis anytime soon. Or ever. Let’s be real. As George pushes 50, it’s always such a shock to see the actor with anyone even remotely long-term. So when he does drag out one of his latest trophy gals on the red carpet, everyone starts whispering wedding rumors.

Well, not so fast. Clooney has swiftly denied any such thing. In fact, he says he wouldn’t date himself for too long:
“I tried marriage and it didn’t work. I have had long relationships with women and they get bored with me working all the time. My fear is that I would make a lousy husband and I don’t want to put myself, or anyone else, through the pain of finding out. If I was my girlfriend, I wouldn’t put up with me for very long!”
See, this doesn’t make much sense. We’re sure he could dig up some sort of gold digger to tend to his pool while he’s on location…
