Mickey won a 2009 Golden Globe award and a BAFTA award, and was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award and an Academy Award for his role in The Wrestler. Did you know that Mickey had once earned himself the “sex symbol” status in Hollywood back in the 80s? I am not joking. That’s from his role in the erratic drama “9 1/2 weeks” starring alongside Kim Basinger.
So what the heck happened? Did he just grew old not so gracefully?
The once boxer went back to boxing in the early 90s and he suffered a lot of physical injuries including facial. Rourke’s face needed reconstructive surgery in order to fix his injuries. His face was later called “almost unrecognizable”. Ouch! Mickey said he had gone to “the wrong guy” for his surgery and that his plastic surgeon had left his features “a mess”.
SO what do they say? Sh#t happens.
