Wyclef Jean’s Haiti charity under fire. Instead of Wyclef being able to help the Haiti earthquake victims dig and get medical attention, he was fighting rumors his charity was not legit.

Wyclef had to defend his organization and say the money was going towards victims and not his bank account. From People Magazine:
“Did we make mistakes? Yes. Did I ever use any of Yéle’s money for personal benefits? Absolutely not,” the emotional musician told reporters Monday in New York. “Yéle’s books are open and transparent, and we have been a clean bill of health by an external auditor every year since we started.”
TheSmokingGun.com reported last week that Jean had used $410,000 from the foundation to pay for rent, production services, and Jean’s appearance at a benefit concert.
I’m not an accountant, but it doesn’t sound good. Maybe there are loopholes where the money goes one way, but is paid back? Let’s hope everything is good and the people of Haiti get the money ASAP!
