Captain Phil Harris of Deadliest Catch dies. Captain Phil was a swearing, smoking and honest guy. He had several health issues over the last few seasons while filming Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch and the last issue finally caught up with him.

Phil was below in his room while the deckhands were offloading crab. He suffered a massive stroke and was airlifted to a hospital where they performed over 12 hours of surgery. Phil had started to recover, but passed away Tuesday night. From Discovery:
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dad – Captain Phil Harris. Dad has always been a fighter and continued to be until the end. For us and the crew, he was someone who never backed down. We will remember and celebrate that strength. Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers. – Jake and Josh Harris.
I wonder how they will handle this in the show…Phil, his sons and their boat are one of the mainstays of the show! RIP Phil.
