John Mayer broke down and cried during performance in Nashville, TN last night. Mayer has been in hot water with various political groups and people (Jessica Simpson included) after his explosive interview with Playboy. Mayer claimed his nether regions were a member of the KKK and that going to bed with Jessica Simpson was like crack cocaine.

While Mayer seems pretty unflappable, concer-goers reported that he choked up while apologizing to the audience. He said:
“In the quest to be clever, I completely forgot about the people that I love and that love me. He said he had thought he could just be “speedy and witty and pull together as many fast words and phrases as I could, that I would be clever enough to buy myself another day without anybody pinning me down and saying, ‘You’re a creep.’
“I should have just given that up and played the guitar,” he continued. “I didn’t. So I decided I would try to be as clever as possible all the time and I did that at the expense of people that I love and that feels absolutely terrible.”
What do you think? Is John Mayer‘s apology sincere or is her just covering his tracks so he doesn’t lose fans and concert sales?
