Johnny Depp has taken a break from acting and stepped into the activist spotlight, this time defending three convicted murderers he believes are innocent. Back in 1993, three you men were convicted for the murders of three eight-year-old boys in West Memphis, Arkansas. One was sentences to death and the remaining two were sentenced to life in prison.

Johnny Depp is appearing on 48 Hours Live to protest the wrongful incarceration of the three. He says:
“I firmly believe Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley are totally innocent. It was a need for swift justice to placate the community,” Depp says on Saturday’s show. “Damien Echols is on death row to be killed by lethal injection.”
Depp and other celebs like Henry Rollins, Winona Ryder, Eddie Vedder and Margaret Cho all believe the men are inncoent. Check out Johnny Depp‘s appearance on ’48 Hours Mystery’ this Saturday, Feb. 27 at 10 p.m.

I am glad that someone that people will take notice of like Johney Depp and the others are helping these three individuals – it’s hard to understand why they were convicted on the lack of evidence – and from day one the stepfather has been someone in my eyes that should be focused on.
