Chris Evans landed the highly coveted Captain America role. There were several high profile names being thrown out as possible contenders for the role, which studio execs hope will be as big or bigger than Spiderman. Chris hopes so too!

This has the potential to launch Chris in to superstardom, especially if he shows some skin! Other star names tossed out included Chace Crawford, Ryan Phillipe, Tatum Channing and John Krasinksi. Pretty stiff competition! According to Just Jared:
Chris Evans has accepted the lead role in Marvel’s much-anticipated superhero flick, The First Avenger: Captain America (alter ego: Steve Rogers).
According to THR, if the franchise does well, the 28-year-old actor will play the part in two sequels and star in the upcoming The Avengers movie, out in 2012.
Does Chris look familiar? He was the Human Torch in the Fantastic Four movies. I can’t wait til this one comes out…
