Real Housewife Jill Zarin insulted and made homophobic comments about fashion stylist Derek Warburton. One could easily lose track of all the insults spewed on an episode of The Real Housewives, but Jill Zarin caused quite a stir on the blogosphere when she poked fun at Alex McCord‘s “day gay” Derek Warburton.

While the cast attended a Fashion’s Night Out Party hosted by Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, Jill Zarin made a snide comment to the cameras about the flamboyant clothing of Alex McCord‘s friend Derek Warburton.
“Alex and Simon arrived with this freaky guy. I was a little shocked. I really was. Like, he scared the crap out of me. I don’t know what he was wearing. He was wearing a corset, a bag and I don’t know. I’ve been around gays. I mean this guy was like [flips wrists] overly beyond.”
Several commentors on Gawker.com took offense to the way the entire cast treated Derek. As if he was a “precious teacup poodle.”
“I am glad someone said this. I really don’t care for treating people like 2-dimensional accessories. I assume Derek has an ego, feelings, and aspirations just like a real person. Calling him a “day gay” was repulsive. No I’m not gay – but I can imagine how one feels.”
What do you think? Should the housewives be more sensitive as to how they treat homosexuals?

Derek’s twitter says that he has coined “day gay” and “GBFF” as his trademarks and takes no offense to it and thats the only reason it was use.

Hi, this is Darren, Jill’s Gay assistant. First of all, to call Jill homophobic is insane. Jill, as you recall, had a gay husband on the show named Brad. In addition, Jill has raised thousands of dollars and worked very hard for Gay rights for GLAAD and HRC. In fact, Jill hosted a summer party for GLAAD and presented at GLAAD’s event in NYC last week to raise awareness for gay issues. I am Gay and I work for Jill so I don’t think she would have hired me, had a Gay husband on the show or dedicate her time and resources to further Gay issues for GLAAD and HRC if she were a homophobe. I am Gay and I think Derek looked like a freak that night too. In fact, a lot of people at that party looked like freaks including Lindsay Lohan. Jill was commenting on Derek’s outlandish costume and NOT his sexuality.
Jill is the devil. She really should kick the countless countless to the curb and get a hobby (B had that right) She needs to go back to the way she was prior to her friendship with luanne’s lonely behind. And she is not a real star…just a reality star…all she did to get rich was #### an old man.
When Jill finds that the countless countless and Kelly are tired of being controlled by her, she is going to have a huge mental break down!!! Watch what happens!
