Sparklehorse’s Mark Linkous committed suicide on March 6, 2010 with a single shotgun blast to the head. Linkous lived for three hours after the shotgun blast, but was later pronounced dead by ambulance EMT workers. Linkous is believed to be in his 40s.

Linkous was a singer and songwriter from Virginia, he’s best known as the leader of Sparklehorse, an alternative rock band.
As reports by NME, Linkous family said:”It is with great sadness that we share the news that our dear friend and family member, Mark Linkous, took his own life today.” “We are thankful for his time with us and will hold him forever in our hearts. May his journey be peaceful, happy and free. There’s a heaven and there’s a star for you.”
Linkous was working on a new Sparklehorse album that was almost completed and was set to be released by the Anti- record label.
