Angelina Jolie has been confirmed in the role of Cleopatra. Rumors circulated the past couple of days that Angelina Jolie was tapped to play Cleopatra in an upcoming adaptation of Stacy Schiff’s book, Queen of the Nile, Cleopatra: A Life.

So why Angelina Jolie? Why not give a newcomer a chance?
“Angelina Jolie radiates grace and power, exactly the qualities that Stacy Schiff finds in her biography of the most intriguing ruler who ever lived,” said Michael Pietsch, publisher of Little, Brown (the publishing company behind the release of Schiff’s book).
The big question here: who is going to play Mark Anthony? I just hope they don’t cast Brad Pitt. It would just be too tabloid-esque for a movie…
