ANNA FARIS Bio
ANNA FARIS is known for her role in the Scary Movie film series, as well as her lead roles in The Hot Chick (2002), Lost in Translation (2003), Just Friends (2005), My Super Ex-Girlfriend (2006), Smiley Face (2007), and The House Bunny (2008). Faris also provided voice acting in the animated film Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009).
Faris was born in Baltimore, Maryland, but grew up in Edmonds, Washington. Her parents encouraged her to pursue acting when she was young, and she had her first professional acting performance when 9, at the Seattle Repertory Theater.
Her first major film role was in the independent production Lovers Lane, in 1999. The role that brought her stardom, though, was in the horror film parody Scary Movie (2000). Faris, a natural blonde, dyed her hair black for the filming of Scary Movie and Scary Movie 2, so that her character more closely resembled Neve Campbell, who was the corresponding character in Scream, the hit film that Scary Movie parodied.
Faris made Hollywood news, with further popularity, after she received the role of the character Erica, the mother whose twin babies are adopted by Chandler and Monica Bing, in the last season of the American sitcom Friends. She played in the critically acclaimed film Lost in Translation. In this film she plays an actress promoting an action movie.
