Zac Efron’s Charlie St. Cloud didn’t do well in the box office. This weekend was a big weekend for movies, however, Zac didn’t come out on top. He didn’t even come in towards the top, but down at #6!
More pictures of Zac after the zing…
This movie has been hyped for weeks, so what happened?
Ever since the multi-hyphenate actor-singer-dancer broke out in 2006 with “High School Musical,” Efron has been one of pop culture’s golden boys: He’s won multiple Teen Choice Awards, and his theatrical releases “Hairspray,” “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” and “17 Again” all performed well at the box-office (with a grand total in U.S. sales of $273.6 million). But when Efron has tried to take a new direction, as with Richard Linklater’s 2009 independent film “Me and Orson Welles” or the more somber “Charlie St. Cloud,” his fan base has been slow to embrace the change.
So, Zac shouldn’t have wanted out of his musical roles, because it earned him the dough. Will you go and see Zac’s new movie or wait for the DVD version?
