The Situation is not allowed to trademark his name. Following on the heels of his exquisite line of bedazzled T-shirts, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino thought the next logical step would be a trademark on his “Situation” moniker.

No so fast said the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Like Snooki last month, The Situation was denied a patent due to the name being too close to a clothing company aptly titled Situation.
In response, The Situation contacted his lawyer who disagrees that both can’t operate under similar trademarked names. The Sitch’s lawyer feels that both brands are opposite enough that confusion would be unlikely.
All The Situation wants to do, said his lawyer, is expand upon his “well known persona and fame.”
