Andy Irons Died At 32
Andy Irons, three-time surfing world champion died this morning at a hotel in Dallas. Irons was only 32. Irons contracted dengue fever in Puerto Rico where outbreaks have been reported.
The Irons family has released a statement saying, “[Andy] had reportedly been battling with dengue fever, a viral disease.”
On Sunday, Andy withdrew from the Rip Curl Pro Search Puerto Rico citing an illness. According reports, Andy was so sick he was unable to board his flight from Dallas to Kauai, that’s why he checked into a hotel room in Dallas and was found dead there by an employee. Andy has left behind his pregnant wife and his family.
