William’s mother, the late Princess Diana wore this same ring a gorgeous blue sapphire surrounded with diamonds on her wedding day nearly 30 years ago.
Prince William said, “As you may recognize now it is my mother’s engagement ring. So of course, it is very special to me, and Kate is very special to me now as well. It is only right the two are put together.
“It is my way of making sure my mother didn’t miss out on today and the excitement and the fact that we’re going to spend the rest of our lives together.”
Diana’s marriage to William’s dad, Prince Charles, heir-to-throne, ended in divorce in 1996 and Diana was killed a year later along with her companion Dodi Fayed in a car crash a year later.
The royal wedding is either going to be next Spring or summer. Congratulations!
